Albert Spinner Obituary

YORK Albert H. Spinner, Jr., 86, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at Manor Care Health Services-Kingston Court. He was the husband of Lillian F. "Sis" (Frank) Spinner, who died May 16, 2014. Mr. and Mrs. Spinner celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on March 31, 2014. Born April 24, 1928. in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Albert H. Spinner, Sr. and Pauline (Schwarz) Spinner. Al was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the 82nd Airborne. He graduated from McCaskey High School and went on to receive his B.S. in Engineering from Penn State University, where he was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity. He retired from Buchart Horn Inc. as a civil engineer. Al was very involved in his community and made major contributions to the township, the county, and the state. He was a Springettsbury Township Supervisor for 24 years and served as chairman for 15 years. He served on different committees for the township and was very instrumental in developing the idea of the Creative Playground for the township. He was a member of the York County Economic Development Corporation, York County Industrial Development Authority, and the Pennsylvania State Industrial Board. Al helped with the funding for the York Revolution's baseball stadium. Al was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and trustee. He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Spinner Hansen and her husband, Greg of Montara, Calif., and Abigail Spinner Neal and her husband, Larry of Davis, Calif.; a son, Albert Trip Spinner and his wife, Susan Spinner of Bristol, R.I.; four grandchildren, Lillian Hansen, Emilie Spinner, and Joshua and Jacob Neal; and a sister, Peggy Diehl of Lancaster. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held Friday, August 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 311 Haines Road, York, with the Rev. Dr. Gregory Seckman, his pastor, officiating. The York County Veterans Honor Guard will provide military rites following the service at the church. Private burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 3001 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill, PA 17011.
