My old York High School buddy, Barry Kent, fellow All American swimmer, rival for girls to date, shared sense of humor, so many good times. We went our separate ways, but I never liked any man more. Thanks for your friendship, Barry. You should have been an Indian, an honorary one, at least. R.I.P.

Assisting Barry many decades ago on sites along the Susquehanna River was a privilege not to be forgotten. He was an all-around good guy, and a first-rate archaeologist whose professional contributions helped illuminate Pennsylvania's past.

Thank you for posting the obituary for Dr. Kent. He was a welcome member of our library community and we are happy to carry his books on our shelves. Our library staff and attendees enjoyed his presentation on the Susquehannocks a few years ago.
I remember when a young man came up to him and asked him if he could identify an arrowpoint that the boy found. Barry quickly assessed the item and said, No, it's a rock. Keep looking.
I loved talking to him about the Native American digs that he excavated over the years. He was delightful and animated when talking about local history.
Our prayers and condolences are with the family as they gather to remember this wonderful man who left a legacy for us all.
