Carl L. Seitz
Carl L. Seitz, 92, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Madalyn (Meals) Seitz, who died on December 23, 1989.
Mr. Seitz was born in York, on December 7, 1923, son of the late Isidor and Lela (Kitzmiller) Seitz.
He was a graduate of William Penn High School. Carl served his county honorably as a Technical Sergeant, E6, in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII at Marshall Island, Sipan, and Yashima (Okinawa). Carl was employed as Maintenance Manager by the former McCrory Distribution Center, retiring after 27 years of service. Previously he was a carpenter, millwright, and installed conveyers throughout the U.S. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, playing cards, camping, and working in his garage.
He was a member of Union Lutheran Evangelical Church, York, Zeredatha Lodge #451 Free and Accepted Masons, Tall Cedars of Lebanon York Forest #30, Zembo Temple of Harrisburg (A.A.D.N.M.S.), York County Shrine Club, and White Rose Scottish Rite Club. He was a 32 Degree Mason, 71 year member of the Shiloh Rod & Gun Club, where he was a past president and honorary member since 2015, a member of Dover Ambulance Club, Shiloh American Legion Post 791 for 55 years, 13th Ward Political Club, and the West York V.F.W. Post 8951.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey A. Seitz of Shiloh; three daughters, Constance L. Minor of Dover, Deborah S. Perago of York, and Cherry L. Brown and her husband, Robert of Dover; four grandchildren, Michael J. Perago, Seth A. Perago, Nicholas F. Brown, and Ashley L. Brown; a companion, Judy A. Swords of Dover; and a sister, Lorene Stump of Dover. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brianne S. Perago; a brother, Donald "Red" Seitz; and a sister, Evelyn Seitz.
Viewings will be held Tuesday, March 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, March 30, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). Masonic service will begin at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home with his pastor, the Rev. Judith McKee, officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
