Charles E. Schaszberger, 90, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Virginia E. Schaszberger who died Monday, December 11, 2017. They had been married for 67 years.
Born February 20, 1927 in York, a son of the late Robert Bonebreak, Sr. and Evelyn M. (Schaszberger) Free, he served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Schaszberger retired from St. Regis Paper Mill where he worked in the carpentry shop. He was a member of the Viking Athletic Association and the Prince Athletic Association.
Mr. Schaszberger is survived by two sons, Craig E. Schaszberger of York, and Steven M. Schaszberger of Clifton Park, NY; a daughter, Jenie Hake of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Thoman. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Free and Robert Bonebreak, Jr.
Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Schaszberger are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Semmel Chapel of Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York, with the Rev. Brian A. McClinton officiating. Visitation will be 10-10:30 a.m. Private burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery with military rites presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 50 East King Street, York, PA 17401.
