Christopher Heim Obituary

YORK Christopher A. Heim, 22, of Springettsbury Township, died Saturday evening July 21, 2007, from injuries sustained in a mo torcycle accident. He was born May 31, 1985, in Baltimore, Md., a son of Michael J. and Karen R. (Lawson) Heim, both of York. He was a 2003 graduate of York Suburban High School. He worked in construction, where he was self employed. He had played York Little League baseball, E.Y.C. Blackhawks football, and high school baseball and football at York Suburban. He was an avid sports fan; and enjoyed snowboarding, fishing, and camping. In addition to his parents, Mr. Heim is survived by two sisters, Brittany M. Heim and Michelle J. Heim, both of York; paternal grandparents, Marianne Shaffer and her husband, Robert, of Manchester and Robert Heim of Hampstead, Md.; and maternal grandmother, Ruth Lawson of Baltimore, Md. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harry Lawson. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 S. George St., York (the former Hahn Home), with the Rev. Stephen Kurtz officiating Viewing will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens, Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

I knew Chris since we were in the 2nd grade together back at East York Elementary. Throughout the course of our school career, we were never very close friends, but we'd always say hi to each other. After we left YSHS in 2003, I saw Chris several times, and it was always great to catch up. When I learned of his death, it hit me really hard for someone I barely knew. I feel really lucky to have known Chris, and I'm really upset that he's gone.

I am going to miss Chris very much. He was one of the sweetest people I knew. In high school, he always made a borring class fun. He had a great sense of humor. It is ashame he had to leave us so young. We will miss him very much. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
