Cletus W. Writer
YORK Cletus W. Writer, 74, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Nancy Jean (Hoke) Writer to whom he was married for 49 years. Born November, 28, 1936, in Pleasant Grove, York County, he was the son of the late William H. and Annie K. (Ort) Writer. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Writer will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 126 W. Main St., Dallastown, with Rev. Lawrence Cunnings officiating. Mr. Writer's family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Burial will follow the service in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. A Flag Folding Service and Taps will be provided by the York County Honor Guard. In addition to his wife, Mr. Writer is survived by a son, W. Andrew Writer and his wife, Amy L. of York; two daughters, Melanie S. Writer and her husband Scott A. Norum of Barcelona, Spain, and Emily Jane Frymyer and her husband Thomas W. of Ostrander, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Paulina, Wesley, Renae, and Meredith Frymyer; Jackson and Mikaela Norum; Benjamin and Rachel Writer. He was predeceased by two brothers, Clair Writer and Ernest Writer; also a sister, Martha Bailets. Mr. Writer was a graduate of New Cumberland High School, Class of 1954 and a veteran of the United States Army. He and his wife were the owners and operators of Cletus W. Writer Construction, Inc. for more than 25 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Dallastown and a Troop Leader for the Boys Scouts of America Troop#50 in Spry for years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was a very loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 126 W. Main St., Dallastown, PA 17313.
