Cornelius Snyder Obituary

Cornelius H. "Sonny" Snyder, 71, died suddenly on Wednesday evening, June 9, 2004 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Jane (Stambaugh) Snyder to whom he had been married for 20 years. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove with, the Rev. Larry A. McConnell officiating. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Christ (Roth's) Lutheran Cemetery in Jackson Township. Born May 7, 1933 in Yoe, he was a son of the late Curvin A. and Hazel E. (Sechrist) Snyder. Mr. Snyder retired from the York Corrugating Co., where he was employed for ten years. Prior to that, he was employed at Lyon Metal where he worked for 30 years. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Sonny was also a member of West York Post #7374 VFW, Pvt. Allen J. Beck Post # 5265 Spring Grove VFW, York #148 Loyal Order of Moose, Red Lion American Legion Post #543, the Victory Athletic Association, and the Fox Trot Hunting Club in Central Pennsylvania. Besides his wife, he leaves a step-son, Randy S. Altland of West Chester; a twin sister, Charlotte Leppo of Shiloh; and two grandchildren, Benjamin and Sarah Altland, both of West Chester.
