D. James McCormack

York - D. James McCormack, age 89, of York, died at 1:54 PM, Sunday, September 9, 2018 at The Brunswick at Longstown. He was the husband of Janet S. (Philips) McCormack.

Born July 8, 1929 in York, a son of the late Daniel J. and Alma Mae (Wright) McCormack, he was a 1946 graduate of Mercersburg Academy, and a 1952 graduate of the University of Michigan. After graduation, he was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. McCormack began his professional career as a co-owner of Welsh's Boat Yard at Long Level from 1959-1964. He then held the position of Corporate Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of Wilmac Corporation until his retirement in 2006. He also served as Administrator of one of the corporate holdings, Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from 1966 until 1984. He was a member of Saint John's Episcopal Church, serving on its Vestry and as a Chalice Bearer for many years, and was a former Board member of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association. He was also a member of the Sertoma Club of York, York YMCA, and York Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge #213.

In addition to his wife, Mr. McCormack is survived by three children, Karen E. McCormack, and her husband Andrew Boll, of York, Jessica A. Baughman, and her husband Kevin, of Brogue, and Daniel J. McCormack, Jr., of York; five grandchildren, Kevin Baughman, and his wife Lauren, Megan Baughman, D. James McCormack III, Kaitlyn McCormack, and Brock McCormack; two great grandchildren, Isabella and Cameron McCormack; a daughter-in-law Kimberly A. McCormack, of Pittsburgh; and a sister, Margaret M. Wilson, and her husband, Dr. Ray A. Wilson, of York. He was also preceded in death by a son, George W. McCormack; and a brother, Webster J. McCormack.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, September 15, 2018 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 140 North Beaver Street, York, with his Pastor, The Rev. Douglas G. Dailey, officiating. A reception with the family will immediately follow. Burial will be private. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
