Derek was a great childhood friend during our years at St. Clare. He was hysterically funny and goofy. He was always kind to me. We had a common interest in toys and movies, and I remember one particular time when he loaned me a toy I didn't have without me even asking (he always had the coolest toys). Even though he switched schools, he came back to visit one night during a school play. I thought maybe his personality would have changed since we were now in middle school and some kids had become mean and selfish, but not Derek. He was just the same - funny and kind. It turns out that was the last time I'd ever see him. He deserved more years than he got. May his spirit and his family be at peace.

I only knew Derek through his grandmother Sharon, my good friend. He seems to have been a very good guy, and so we are so sad for all of you who are dealing with his sudden and unexpected death. I know you will cherish his lovely smile in your hearts forever. May you all find some semblance of peace with the passing of time.

Derek mount! One of my good friends while growing up in Baltimore, MD. There are so many great memories of back in the old neighborhood when there were no worries, Just all of us enjoying life. You were always so chill and never got worked up from anything. You were so full of life and wouldn't hurt a fly. I remember those good old days playing basketball in the street and football in the little field in front of my house with all of us friends. And you know... Boys will be boys..! Cant say more than that, haha. There is so much I could say but I believe you already know. My buddy Derek, you will always be remembered, I mean always! I know your somewhere special and watching over us and when we finally meet again down the road, we can reminisce of all the good times we had. I will miss you Derek but never forget. My heart goes out to your mom, dad, and little brother. I love ya buddy!
