York
Eugene L. McKay, 73, entered into rest on Friday, February 3, 2017, at Rest Haven-York. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Eich) McKay. The couple was united in marriage on December 15, 1968, sharing 48 years together.
Eugene was born in Richmond, Calif., on May 29, 1943, the son of the late Duane and Beulah Helen (Bellach) McKay. When he was an infant, Eugene and his family moved to Canistota, South Dakota where he resided until the time he left for his college education.
Eugene received his Bachelor's degree from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He was employed by Caterpillar as a Quality Control Manager, working at several plants in Illinois before moving to York in 1981. He was a member of the Triangle Fraternity and Advent Lutheran Church in York. He was also involved with the York Chapter of the American Red Cross. Eugene enjoyed fishing and was a lifelong golfer.
In addition to his wife, Patricia, Eugene is survived by two daughters, Vicki Ivancevic and her husband, Jovan of Bolingbrook, IL and Kathryn Johnston and her husband, Jason of Severna Park, MD; his granddaughter, Sarah Johnston of Severna Park, MD; two brothers, Robert McKay and his wife, Caroline of Las Vegas, NV and Richard McKay and his wife, Sherry of Boone, Iowa; his sister, Debra Kleinsasser and her husband, Robert of Hot Springs, SD; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Due to renovations at Eugene's home congregation, a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 25 W. Springettsbury Ave., York, with Pastor Daniel V. Biles, III officiating. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p..m on Monday, March 27, 2017, at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Advent Lutheran Church, 1775 E. Market St., York, PA 17402.
