Every time I hear "Precious Lord take my hand" or "Just a closer walk with thee" I'm standing in Big Spring select choir while being led by the choir master, Mr. Houck...sweet memories!

I echo John & Nancy's comments. Mr. Houck taught us such a love of music and being a part of the "select choir" was so special. I too enjoyed singing choir "back up" for Precious Lord & Just a Closer Walk... Also the musicals, South Pacific and Sounds of Freedom--wow that was a special one. As I was returning from spending Thanksgiving with my daughter in NC, I was thinking about him. (Big Spring Class of '62)

Iam so sorry for your loss. I had Mr. Houck for 7th and 8th grade music class at Big Spring High School. I thought his Christmas concerts were so great! All these years I`ve been married and living in the Dallastown area and here Mr Houck was living right next door in the Red Lion area and I never knew it! My prayers are with you and your family at this sad time.

"Coach" Houck will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was one of the original good guys, who lived what he taught us. Will never forget the Sunday evenings he spent with his students visiting local churches and singing "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "Precious Lord, Take my Hand"!
and winning the Basketball tournement where we all signed the basketball that remains on display at the Big Spring High School. Rest in Peace, we will miss you.
