Glenn Zumbrum Obituary

SPRING GROVE Glenn L. Zumbrum Sr., 78, died suddenly at home on his farm on Saturday, October 19, 2013. He was the loving husband of Shirley M. (Myers) Zumbrum. Together they shared over 58 years of marriage. Glenn was born in Brodbecks and was one of six children of the late Ammon Zumbrum and Katie (Renoll) Zumbrum. He worked for P. H. Glatfelter in Spring Grove for over 30 years prior to retiring. His passion in life was farming, and he enjoyed the long hours and hard work that it took to care for his farm. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren on the farm. In addition to his wife Shirley, he is survived by his daughters, Linda M. Graham and husband Barry of Ft. Myers Fla., Darla K. Zumbrum and husband Michael of Spring Grove, Kathy A. Ward and husband Michael of Dover, Kelly S. Nell and husband Daniel of Spring Grove, Lorie A. Warner and husband Keith of Spring Grove, and Heidi L. Rice and husband Timothy of Spring Grove; his sons, Glenn L. Zumbrum, Jr. of Spring Grove, and Craig A. Zumbrum and wife Elizabeth of Spring Grove. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; one great-grandson; his brother, Harold Zumbrum of Fairfield; his sister, Grace Biddle of Hanover; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Braydan L. Warner in 1992 and three sisters. A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N Main St., Spring Grove, with Pastor Todd Witmer officiating. He will be laid to rest following the service at St. Peter Lischey's Cemetery in Spring Grove. Viewings will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Cancer Patient Help Fund at Apple Hill Medical Center, 25 Monument Road-Suite 194, York, PA 17403.
