Gregory Holtzapple Obituary

MANCHESTER Gregory E. Holtzapple, 70, passed away at 11:16 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010, at his residence. He was the husband of Susan E. (Brickner) Holtzapple, to whom he was married 25 years. Born June 21, 1939, in West Manchester Township, a son of the late Floyd "Jake" and Margaret (Bahn) Holtzapple, he was a 1958 graduate of Central High School. He was a retired York City Paid Firefighter and had worked for Manchester Township. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Dover Bethany United Methodist Church, the York Paid Retired Firefighters Association, NDHP Motorcycle Club, and the Shiloh American Legion Post 791. He was a NESA Coach and was actively involved in his children's sporting events. In addition to his wife, Mr. Holtzapple is survived by five sons, Shell Holtzapple of Winchester, Va., Shawn Holtzapple of Manchester, Shane Holtzapple of Emigsville, Ed Walters of Meriden, Conn., and Joshua Walters of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Traci Walters of York; 14 grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Holtzapple. Funeral services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Dover Bethany United Methodist Church, 4510 Bull Road, Dover, with his pastor, the Rev. Bradley Gilbert, officiating. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with the York Professional Firefighters standing guard. Burial will be private. William E. Little Funeral Homes, Inc., 60 S. Main St., Manchester, is in charge of arrangements. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Greg was my father's partner in the fire department and I loved going in to see them. He was so funny and always made me laugh. May he rest in peace!!
