One of the sweetest, funniest men I have had the privilege to know.....Our hearts are broken ....and yet we rejoice in knowing Howard is with his loved ones who have gone before; and he is no longer in pain.....Rest in Peace, Howard..We will see you again in Heaven......Much love from all your girls at the Haven!!

I had the honor of spending time with this kind, gracious WWII hero, as the Chaplain of the Haven at Springwood. I came to deeply respect and appreciate Howard's deep, vibrant, Christian faith and humble patriotism. A U.S. Army chaplain of 27 years, I took the opportunity of asking him several questions about his WWII service in Germany, fighting the Germans. It seems that he took an active and highly commendable part in some fierce fighting, but, though an authentic, courageous hero, he never relished the thought of having to kill others in war. He loved Jesus and was greatly looking forward to going "Home" to the Mansion Jesus prepared for all who call on Him with a believing heart and embrace Him as Savior. (John 14:1-6; Romans 10:9-10, 13; Revelation 3:20) It was an honor to know this very distinguished gentleman and authentic disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. It was a real blessing to have been his chaplain at the Haven. I will continue to pray for his dear family. I know he will be deeply and dearly missed. --CH (LTC) Otto Mazzoni (RET)
