Jean Marie Almoney, 66, entered into rest on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at York Hospital.
She was the wife of Larry E. Almoney. The couple was united in marriage on October 13, 1973, sharing 44 years together.
Jean was born in York on May 24, 1951, daughter of Kathryn (Saylor) Grove of York and the late Kenneth Grove.
Jean was a member and also served as secretary at Mt. Pisgah Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a first grade teacher's aide assistant at Canadochly Elementary School as well as a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, shopping, and driving the back roads in Lancaster County through Amish Country, always taking a different road. Jean loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and mother, Jean is survived by two sons, Brian K. Almoney and his wife, Jamie of Hellam and Adam L. Almoney and his fiancée, Amanda of Wrightsville; four grandchildren, Hailey, Zoey, and Presley Almoney, and Lane Sipe; two brothers, Mike Grove and his wife, Debbie and Bob Grove and his wife, Cindy; a sister, Sandy Sipe and her husband, Scott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Mt. Pisgah Trinity United Methodist Church, 5615 Mt. Pisgah Road, York, with the Rev. Keith Schmuck officiating. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow the service in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pisgah Trinity United Methodist Church, 5615 Mt. Pisgah Road, York, PA 17406.

Our deepest condolences to you on the passing of Jean. We always enjoyed talking to her because she always had a smile on her face, even when her health continued to present challenges to her time and time again.

Our deepest condolences on the passing of Jean. She was a very sweet lady, whom we always enjoyed talking to. Jean was given many physical trials in her life, but we never saw her give up.
