Jesse L. Lininger, Jr. DILLSBURG On Monday, October 18, 2004, Jesse L. (Jay) Lininger, Jr., went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A man gifted by God with extraordinary talent and intellect, Jay, along with his wife Paula, was the founder and President of MATRIX Publishing Services and MATRIX Art Services. Jay was also well known nationally and internationally in the world of mineralogy as an author, publisher, lecturer and foremost a collector. His fascination with the science of mineralogy began as a young teenager and continued through his entire life. At the time of his death, Jay was considered by his peers, as one of the foremost authorities in the study of minerals of Pennsylvania. His passion for this science is well documented in his internationally known publication, MATRIX, a Journal of the History of Minerals. He was a cofounder and lifelong member of the York Rock and Mineral Club and was active in the PA Chapter of Friends of Mineralogy, serving as a Board Member and past president. Because of his love of the history of the science of mineralogy in PA, he recently took over the design and publication of the Chapter's Newsletter. Jay was also a gifted artist and illustrator. Jay served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army National Guard, and in the 1970's was a member of a popular York area folk music group, "The Summit Singers". Jay was a member of the West Shore Evangelical Free Church where he enjoyed rich fellowship with friends and fellow believers. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Paula; his mother and father, Jesse L. Lininger, Sr. and Laura of Haley's Station, Ontario, Canada; two sons, Petty Officer Second Class Erik and wife Pam of Brunswick, Maine, and Petty Officer First Class Nathan and wife Quwanna of Oak Harbor, Wash.; daughter, Jill Donato and husband Mark of Swedesboro, N.J.; stepson, Gregory Vasquez and wife Teresa of Dillsburg; two stepdaughters, Jody Adair and husband Trevor of Clemson, S.C. and Denise Rosenberry and husband Greg of Fannettsburg, Pa.; sister, Judy of Dillsburg; two brothers, David and wife Becky of Oxford, Maine, and Terry and wife Deanna of Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at West Shore Evangelical Free Church, 321 Gettysburg Pike, Mechanicsburg. Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N.
