Joseph Paden Obituary

DUNCANSVILLE Joseph M. ''Mick'' Paden, 67, formerly of York, passed away late Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, Blair County, after a brief illness. He married Gwen E. Honsaker on February 6, 1992, in Hollidaysburg. Born in York, he was a son of the late Francis and Angela (Price) Paden. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, daughters, Cindy Recupero and husband, Frank, and Beth Witmer and husband, Tom, and son, Tim, all of New Cumberland; three grandchildren, Shane, Christopher, and Collin Jordan; a sister, Susan Castellano and husband, Vic of York; parentsin-law, Raymond and Lucille Honsaker; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Chris, who died in 1986. Mr. Paden was of the Catholic faith. He was an avid golfer and was a member and current board director at Iron Master Country Club, rural Roaring Spring. His passion was to play Santa Claus for many children in the area. He retired as regional manager of Marriott (formerly Howard Johnson - turnpike division) after more than 25 years of service. Following retirement, he owned and operated the Carriage House Restaurant, Bedford, and owned and operated ''Anything Joe's'', Altoona. For the past 12 years, he was employed at Skills of Central PA as a caregiver and friend to many, including specials friends, Jimmy, Richard, and Dick. Mr. Paden was a 1957 graduate of York Catholic High School, attended the University of Dayton (Ohio), and received his degree from Harrisburg Area Community College. Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Memorial Church of the Brethren, Martinsburg, where a funeral service will follow at 6 p.m., with Pastor Ervin L. Huston officiating. According to the wishes of the deceased, there will be no graveside service. The John C. Bolger Funeral Home, Inc., Martinsburg, is handling the arrangements. The family prefers memorial contributions be given to Hollidaysburg Catholic School, P.O. Box 599, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
