June Schaeffer Obituary

YORK June R. Schaeffer, 90, died at 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Calvin W. Schaeffer, Jr. Born February 5, 1919, in York, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Mary (Whiteleather) Desenberg. June was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program at the church. She was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School. June loved to play cards, especially bridge. Survivors include two sons, Charles W. Schaeffer of York and Gary N. Schaeffer of Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Laurie S. Rush of Ellicott City, Md.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ronald Desenberg of York. Following cremation, a memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Etzweiler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York. Officiating will be the Rev. Paul Stambach of Asbury United Methodist Church. A visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Aquatic Club of the York YMCA, 90 N. I'm sorry to hear about your mother. Your parents and mine shared a lot of times together with the Johnson Class and "the goat" recycler near Ollie's. I visited her a couple of times at Manor Care. You are in my prayers.
