My sincerest sympathy to Marjie's family. Marjie and I were friends all through Junior and Senior High School. Her Mother was like a second Mother to me. Here are some memories from our youth:
• Monday nights we went to Girl Scouts. The first three days after school was out for the summer, our Troop would go to a Girl Scout Camp at Atlaniic City, NJ. The Atlantic City schools would still be in session and their boys had gym class on the beach. We sure did have fun watching all of those boys.
• Much of our free time was spent at activities at our Church. One of my favorite memories involves a bus trip that our Church and a Church from Waynesboro, PA took. Marjie and I met two of the boys from Waynesboro and they asked us for dates for the next Saturday night and we agreed to go. However, Marjie had failed to find out her date's last name. When she told her parents that she was going on a date, her parens asked his last name. She told them Kaddlehopper (a name taken from the Red Skelton show). I imagine that her parents had a good laugh over that little episode.
• We idolized Marjie's older Brother, Jim. He was four years older than us and could drive. He was Marjie's hero. We got to go to a lot of places and have a lot of fun, thanks to Jim.
• We walked every day to and from High School, and those walks were filled with conversations about boys. Marjie was pretty and always had plenty of dates.
• On Wednesdays, we went to chior practice at church. Marj, had a lovely voice.
• We would babysit to earn money and we went to lots of movies, football games, basketball games and school dances.
• We had fun going to the Snack Shack playing the juke box and eating shoestring french fries and drinking frosted root beers.
• When we were in high school, girls would be sent home if they bleached their hair. We would use shampoo that was supposed to bring out the highlights in your hair. Then we would try to convince ourselves that it worked.
Our Church was at the center of most of our activties. I think that Marjie is probably already a member of God's heavenly chior. I am certain that Marjie must have been a wonderful Mother. I will remember her as a wonderful friend. I hope that the memories that I have shared about her help to lessen the pain of her family.

It was my pleasure to help her in her final days in chambersburg. Such a sweet lady. She told me she was ready to go , her only loss was not having more time with her beloved family. Praying for your family.

To the Christine family and the Kells....what a dear lady....she purchased Business texts from me while teaching at Central and the Christian School of York. We always had the Chambersburg connection with the Kells. I will always miss seeing Marj at conferences. Such a sweet lady. Let her thoughts comfort all of her family:)
