Stanley Toporowski Obituary

CHESHIRE -- Stanley A. Top-orowski, 77, of Rotterdam, N.Y., formerly of Cheshire, died yesterday at Ellis Hospital in Schenec-tady, N.Y.

Born in Cheshire on Feb. 27, 1927, son of Joseph and Anna Toporowski, he graduated from the former Adams High School in 1945 and received his bachelor's degree from North Adams State College and his master's in education from Boston University.

A World War II veteran, he was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Toporowski was employed at Mohonasen High School as an English teacher for 27 years be-fore retiring.

He was a member of the Schen-ectady Curling Club.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Nancy; two daughters, Susan Christensen of Flower Mound, Texas, and Betsey Sevitski of Holland, Pa.; a son, Peter Top-orowski of Saugerties, N.Y.; two brothers, Casmir Toporowski and Larry Toporowski, both of Chesh-ire; a sister, Francis Lamb of Burnt Hills, N.Y., and 11 grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral arrangements by DEMARCO-STONE FUNERAL HOME, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Schenectady. Viewing hours are Sunday, Feb. 6, from 3 to 5. Funeral services are noon on Monday, Feb. 7, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Saratoga, N.Y., at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Children's Annex, 70 Kukuk Lane, Kingston, N.Y. 12401, a nonprofit school that services special needs children and where his grandchild, Lindsey Toporowski, attends.

Please accept my sincere sympathy on your great loss. We too lost our youngest brother Kasey Piekos (66) on January 7th, to cancer.
