Dear Family and Friends of McKenzie Schneider, I don't know you, and you don't know me, but we all share a common bond of the love of precious little girl with Down Syndrome. (I met a distant relative of her family at Advantage Physical Therapy, and she had just attended the funeral the day before. We got to talking, (I wish I could remember her name,) but I told her about our little girl, Mary, who was born with Down Syndrome. She just turned 5 yrs. old on the 8th of March. Mary also had RSV, and was flown in a helicopter, on a ventilator, to Penn State/Hershey Medical Center. What wonderful care we have always gotten there! From what I understand, McKenzie had RSV, and then was diagnosed with Childhood Leukemia. I am so sorry for all of your loss. We do know part of the pain you are experiencing, as our 2 week old son died 3 yrs. ago in an automobile accident. We were in shock for weeks. Sometimes my husband and and I will tell each other stories of that time period, and we don't remember certain things. (God's way of protecting us.) The best advice I got, was to cry whenever I felt like crying, and if I could tell my story without crying, not to feel guilty. Let the tears come whenever they may fall. Tears of grief have a different chemical makeup than other tears...they actually are healing! I highly reccomend 2 videos on youtube.com: 1) Children Down Syndrome Superman (a tribute for Special Needs Children, by Five For Fighting.) 2) Jewel Hands Vatican (or) Jewel Hands Christmas (They are the same.) Can't tell you how much healing these two songs have brought to me. If we can help, please call us at 717-252-2413. I pulled up McKenzie's Obituary on-line through the York Daily Record. She looks almost identical to our daughter, Mary. May God hold you all in the palm of His Hand. The tincture of time will ease your pain, though it may not seem like it now, the sun will shine again.

Dear Eddie & Lisa:
A few weeks have passed since McKenzie's funeral. It was a day filled with much sadness and one I will never forget.
Amidst the pain that was present, I did see something during the mass that made me smile; albeit briefly. It was during Father's homily that I saw Bria lean against your shoulder Eddie. Probably for a good minute or two. You may not have noticed it but I did.
You two are special parents, special people. Know this, if either or both of you need someone to lean on to get through this as time goes on, we'll be here.

I cannot imagine a more wonderful tribute to McKenzie than the service yesterday. I had to write to tell you what a beautiful message was presented. It moved me to the core of my soul. My heart broke last night as I stood in the church and looked thru the window and saw your beautiful angel.I couldn't bring myself to stand in line so I watched from a distance and said my prayers for you & your family.The outpouring of love I saw in everyone's eyes as they stood in line was a testament as to how Mack touched so many lives in her short time on earth.She truly was an angel on earth.I watched the video-a smile was on her face in every picture - it was a beautiful & moving tribute to a beautiful child.I know there are no words that I can say that will ease your pain but please know that you & your family are in my thoughts and prayers.May God watch over you and guide you in your grief.I'm sure Mack will be right next to him holding his hand watching over you too.

I know first hand the conflicting feelings of grief knowing that years will pass before we see our loved one again, and the joy of knowing that they are walking with the Lord in perfect peace and love.
