Michael E. Land

YORK Michael E. Land, 60, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at his home. He had been the husband of Cheryl A. (Wagner) Land. Michael is survived by children, Katharine A. Land and her husband, Brad R. Bernhardt; as well as Paul M. Land. Michael was born July 19, 1954, in York, a son of Rita T. (Ganister) Land of Glen Mills, Pa. and the late Anthony Land. A 1972 graduate of York Catholic High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree from St. Joseph University. As the President and co-owner of York County Lumber Corporation, he was also a member of the York County Builders Association. He was a life-long member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Generous and kind, Mike was the most selfless of men. He was stronger than he ever knew. Mike loved sports of all kinds, but he especially loved the Phillies and the Colts. He could remember statistics and sports facts like no one else. As a young man, he was an outstanding golfer and was an Arnold Palmer Junior National Champion. He will be remembered by his many friends, especially long-time business associate, Eddie Garman, as loyal, warm and welcoming to everyone. In addition to his children, Michael is survived by his mother; his brother, Anthony J. Land and his wife Kathy, of Blue Bell; his brother Thomas K. Land and his wife, Trish of Las Vegas; and his sister, Jennifer Land of Egg Harbor, N.J.; as well as his niece and nephews, Jack Land, Amy Land-Coleman, Peter Land, Matthew Land, and Kevin Land. He was preceded in death by a brother Joseph. A viewing will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 231 South Beaver Street from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Keith Carroll as Celebrant. The Burial will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday in Holy Saviour Cemetery.
