So hard to believe that it has been 5 years since you have passed away. I think about you often especially as I am cooking soup in the pot that you got for me.

Woontz and my dad, Msgt John M Walker, were best buddies when I was a little boy. They were stationed at Dover AFB together for 7 years. The two of them took me to Memorial Stadium for my first baseball game in 1977, and I witnessed my favorite player of all time - Eddie, Eddie!!! Woontz is THE reason I have been an Orioles fan since I literally can remember.
We sent him care packages when he went to Turkey, and he sent us VHS tapes of recorded games (nba, nfl, mlb, nhl...) after we moved to England in 1982. He sent me a team signed Orioles baseball after they won the series (and we missed it ). He took me to Cooperstown with my dad. He came out to California to visit when dad was stationed at Edwards afb, and got to be with dad for HIS first game at Dodger Stadium.
Mom passed a few months ago, and dad had talked about getting a hold of Woontz, and now I have to tell him this...
I will end by saying that Mike "bobby woontz" Weaver will never be forgotten by us, because he was one of the nicest guys I ever knew, and I have no bad memories of him.

Very sad to hear Mike (WOONTZ) has past away. We were roommates my last year 1976. We went back and forth with the Orioles and Yankees, since I am from New York. Met the family one time, when Mike, Carl, and myself went to visit, in Pa. I will miss you bud, you were a true friend. God Bless and see you down the road.

Please accept our sincere sympathies. My husband Russ & I were friends of "Weav" in Delaware. He was a good, kind & generous man. I remember when he attended Cal Ripkin's record breaking game. My daughter, husband & I will miss him very much.

I will miss u Mike....after having the privilige of you being here for this past Thanksgiving what a treat it was for sure...you p aid me the highest compliment when u said my Turkey gravy tasted like Mom's and that being here with us was like being at Mom's house ....that stuck with me and I will forever remember those kind words..my memories go way back to childhood days playing ball on the back lot on Franklin st...and how proud I was when u entered the Air Force....I will miss those emails about the O's and I know u looked forward to spring training televised games as u sent me the schedule Jan 30....but now my dear brother, I have the hopeful assurance of seeing u again as promised in 1 Thess. 4:16-18 when our Lord and Saviour, Jesus, returns for his saints....Love you and will miss you, but the memories will always remain in my heart.. Love Theresa

Mike, you will surely be missed. My earliest memory of you and the Orioles was the mid 60's on Franklin Street in New Freedom. We didn't have much but you created a bat with a 2x4 and hit stones against the water tank at the Insulator. After hitting the water tank and making a ping noise you started your Chuck Thompson commentary like Boog up to bat. It's a long, long ball deep to left center back, back, back, it's gooooooone! Home Run. Go to War Miss Agnes And if it was a game winner you'd say Ain't the beer cold. I was only around 9 years old but I remember you would entertain us for hours after school. My last memory was February 5th when we emailed back and forth about Pete Carroll and all the jokes flying around about the Super Bowl. You will be missed. The O's lost a treasure. May you rest in peace.
Your brother, John

To the entire Weaver family,
Your brother was much more than a friend of mine for the last 33 years but was a huge part of my kids lives. We spent many days going to games, playing softball, fantasy football and just shooting the breeze. He spent many holidays with my family and will be greatly missed by all his friends from Fox Post 2 American Legion. He had a heart of gold and I am truly blessed to have known him!!
Thoughts and Prayers,
Mike Windows

As former AF vets, my son, Tony & I salute Mike for his 20yrs of military service & dedication. Over the yrs, Mike & I shared thoughts by email on various topics. His remarks were witty, brief & razor sharp. His comeback quips were spot on, often leveling a serious topic with humor & truth. And sports was his venue, especially his beloved O's & good ol' Cal. Over the yrs, he wrote to the Balt Sun editor on his views of the O's. This past yr, we shared memories of growing up in New Freedom. As lean as those times were for us we used humor to cope, & Mike was our ringleader...so darn funny! Over the yrs, we often played ball in that back lot by the Insulator, & soon had neighbor kids joining us for a game. I often found Mike playing sports announcer, Chuck Thompson, in the alley behind our house. He had improvised a bat from some discarded board & had a pile of stones for balls. He'd whack those "balls" over the field announcing his own ballgame. His voice would take on the excited cadence of Thompson..."It's bases loaded, bottom of the 9th, & Boog (or Brooksie) grand slams it for the win!"...that was Mike even back then, rooting fervently for his beloved O's! That's just one fond memory of many good ones of my bro I will always cherish. He will be missed greatly. As a bachelor uncle he was loved by so many, including Tony. Uncle Mike was like a kid at heart making them laugh. Over the yrs, he kept in touch with them by emails & cards. Tony said Uncle Mike helped to sway his decision to join the AF over the Navy. I like to think those in our family & his close friends who've gone on were there to meet Mike in the end. May he rest in eternal peace and be surrounded by our loved ones in heaven. You will be greatly missed dear bro!

What a sad, sad day for Peggy and the Weaver family, including me, his brother, Jerry. His death is a terrible loss. Taken from this life long before he should have been, his personality and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by all who ever crossed his path. He was a wonderful brother who gave 20 years of his life to the nation working to assure the rest of us remain free Americans. Rest In Peace, Mike. Brother, Jerry and Peggy Weaver
