Norma Wilson Obituary
Manchester - Norma J. (Avis) Wilson, 78, passed away at 12:09 AM, Friday, November 15, 2019, at UPMC Memorial. She was the wife of the late Gene E. Wilson who died on February 24, 2015.
Mrs. Wilson was born December 2, 1940, in York and was the daughter of the late Martin and Grace (Brockley) Avis.
She graduated in 1958, from William Penn High School in York and was employed by GTE Verizon for over 30 years before retiring in 1988. She was a member of Starview United Church of Christ in Mount Wolf.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by her step-son, Randy Wilson and his wife Karenof York Haven; her step-daughter, Candice Lau of York; 6 step-grandchildren, Matthew, Scott, Jamie, Jennifer, Korissa, and Michael; 10 step-great grandchildren, and her sister, Barbara Rupert of York. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Avis and her step-son-in-law, Harold Lau.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Starview United Church of Christ, 4832 North Sherman Street, Mount Wolf. Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Officiating at the service will be her pastor, Reverend Laura Bair. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
