R. Thomas Trimmer
October 3, 1951 - December 18, 2016
R. Thomas "Tom" Trimmer, 65, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at home. After a valiant fight, Tom succumbed to esophageal cancer, but is now at peace and watching over us. He was the husband of Kathleen R. (Allen) Trimmer for 44 years and father of Andrew and wife, Courtney (Arthur) and Mark and wife, Sarah (Seredych). Born in York on October 3, 1951, Tom was the son of the late Richard N. and Dorothy H. (Hipp) Trimmer. He is survived by brothers Richard, Daniel and wife, Cindy and sister, Diane Strine and husband, Donald and preceded in death by brother, Timothy. Tom is also survived by his beloved brother and sisters-in-law, John Allen, Greg Allen and wife, Sandy, Carol Williams, Christine Arians and husband, Bruce.
Tom graduated from York Catholic in 1969, served as an Army Reservist for 6 years and earned an associate's degree from York College. He was a former co-owner of Penn Kleen, Inc., followed by a long career in industrial supplies, most recently serving as General Manager with Applied Industrial Technologies (formerly Bearings, Inc.).
Tom was a member and had previously served on the board of directors of the Viking Athletic Assn. as well as a member of the West York VFW, Victory Athletic Assn. and Hawks Gunning Club. Tom was an avid sports fan, following the Pittsburgh Pirates and Arizona Cardinals (coached by brother-in-law, Bruce). He found much happiness coaching West York Boys Club for many years and serving as a PIAA football official.
The Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. Patrick Church, 219 S. Beaver St, York, with the Rev. Keith Carroll as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., West York, is entrusted with arrangements.
