R. Thomas Trimmer
October 3, 1951 - December 18, 2016
R. Thomas "Tom" Trimmer, 65, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2016 at home. After a valiant fight, Tom succumbed to esophageal cancer, but is now at peace and watching over us. He was the husband of Kathleen R. (Allen) Trimmer for 44 years and father of Andrew and wife, Courtney (Arthur) and Mark and wife, Sarah (Seredych). Born in York on October 3, 1951, Tom was the son of the late Richard N. and Dorothy H. (Hipp) Trimmer. He is survived by brothers Richard, Daniel and wife, Cindy and sister, Diane Strine and husband, Donald and preceded in death by brother, Timothy. Tom is also survived by his beloved brother and sisters-in-law, John Allen, Greg Allen and wife, Sandy, Carol Williams, Christine Arians and husband, Bruce.
Tom graduated from York Catholic in 1969, served as an Army Reservist for 6 years and earned an associate's degree from York College. He was a former co-owner of Penn Kleen, Inc., followed by a long career in industrial supplies, most recently serving as General Manager with Applied Industrial Technologies (formerly Bearings, Inc.).
Tom was a member and had previously served on the board of directors of the Viking Athletic Assn. as well as a member of the West York VFW, Victory Athletic Assn. and Hawks Gunning Club. Tom was an avid sports fan, following the Pittsburgh Pirates and Arizona Cardinals (coached by brother-in-law, Bruce). He found much happiness coaching West York Boys Club for many years and serving as a PIAA football official.
The Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. Patrick Church, 219 S. Beaver St, York, with the Rev. Keith Carroll as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., West York, is entrusted with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Tom to support esophageal cancer research at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. Checks should be payable to Johns Hopkins University and mailed to Kimmel Cancer Center, 750 E. Pratt Street, 17th Floor, Baltimore, MD 21202, or go to: hopkinscancerresearch.org to make a gift.

Andy and family, I'm really sorry for your loss. I was really surprised to hear of Tom's passing as I was unaware of his illness. I lost both my mom and dad in the past 10 years so I know what you're going through. Please know that my thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Thinking of the family during this time. In my thoughts and my prayers. May God hold you in the palm of his hand and may Tom rest knowing he was loved by so many. Especially his wife Kathy his childhood sweetheart, wife, mother and friend. To his sons who were a rock for them both. Together they raised two fine sons. God Bless
