Robert E. "Bob" Eberly, 89, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Autumn House West, York. He was the husband of the late Virginia I. "Ginny" (McCracken) Eberly, and the companion of the late Marion (Buchanan) Cosgrove.
Mr. Eberly was born in York, September 20, 1926, son of the late Earl E. and Helen M. (Shanabrough) Eberly.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the former Mason Dixon Trucking Co. as a truck driver, retiring in 1984. In addition to light maintenance and delivery for 18 years for York Truck Center, formerly York Mack.
He was a life member of the Thirteenth Ward Political Club, Prince Athletic Assoc., and Shiloh Fire Co. Additional memberships include West York VFW 8951 and Shiloh American Legion Post 791.
Survivors include two sons, Michael L. Eberly and Dennis E. Eberly, both of York; one grandson, Steven M. Eberly; two granddaughters, Jennifer M. Young and Tracy M. Hewick; two great-grandsons, Evan Eberly and Aaron Young; and two great-granddaughters, Emily and Ellee Hewick.
Memorial service will be held 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the LeRoy R. Leber Funeral Home, Inc., 2290 School St., York (Shiloh). Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Paul E. Stambaugh. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Bob and Ginny will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

I will miss Bob just a jabbering away while in the doc's office, he was always full of life & had a story to tell. He was one of the sweetest men I had the pleasure of knowing. He will surely be making lots of new friends & connecting with old ones in our heavenly kingdom. Go in peace my friend.
