Robert C. Harling

Dover - Robert Clark Harling, 94, entered into rest at 6:47 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Grace M. (Haas) Harling who died December 15, 2015. They were married 69 years.

Born February 19, 1924, in Camp Hill, Robert was a son of the late George W. and Mary (Clark) Harling.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Robert owned and operated G&R Construction in Dover for over 20 years and had previously been employed by Sun Oil.

He was a member of Dover United Church of Christ; York Lodge No. 266, F&AM; the Turkey Buzzards; and Shiloh American Legion Post 791.

Robert was an avid gardener who enjoyed deep sea fishing, spending summers in the Pocono Mountains, and playing cards. He and his wife also loved to entertain family and friends at their home in Dover and beach house in Rehoboth.

Robert is survived by four daughters, Susan M. Scott of York, Carol A. Frigm and husband, Matthew of Columbia, Lou-Ann Fenstermacher and husband, Jeff of Dover, and Robin L. Harling and husband, Patrick Hanratty of Millersville, MD; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and his life-long friend and brother-in-law, Paul Kramer. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, two sisters, and four brothers.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Robert's funeral at 10 a.m. and the viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Eva O'Diam.
