Michael J. Baldwin

York - Michael J. Baldwin, 75, of York, passed away at 3:10 AM, Friday, July 20, 2018, at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jayne E. (Myers) Baldwin.

Michael was born February 26, 1943, in Scranton, PA and was the son of the late Wallace A. and Martha Ruth Baldwin.

In 1961 he graduated from Palmyra High School in Palmyra, PA. and continued his studies and graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1965 and with a Masters Degree later from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Michael taught English for the Dallastown Area School District for over 35 years before retiring in 2002. He was also an adjunct professor at York College. He served on numerous boards in his life time and was a member of First Church of the Brethren in York. Michael's passion was music and he served over 50 years of playing organ and piano. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

In addition to his wife, Jayne, Michael is survived by his three sons, Christopher J. Baldwin and his wife Pamela of York, James M. Baldwin and his husband, Gregory Harris of Baltimore, MD and Joel M. Baldwin and his wife Colleen of Baltimore, and 5 grandchildren, Luke, Alexandru, Christopher, Jr., Ryan and Brock.

Michael's memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 26, 2018 at York First Church of the Brethren, 2710 Kingston Road, York, PA. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, Thursday at the church. Burial will be private. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Joel Gibbel and Pastor Donald Hubbell. Arrangements have been entrusted to The Diehl Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Mount Wolf.
