Richard V. Crouse

Port Charlotte, FL - Richard V. Crouse, 69, of Port Charlotte, FL and longtime resident of York, PA, died September 26, 2019 after complications from a fall. He was born April 5, 1950 in Aberdeen. Washington.

The son of the late Ila and Andrew Crouse, he was the oldest of 3 siblings. He was the spouse of the late Doris Markley.

On September 21, 2008 he married Elizabeth Wilhelm, who survives.

Soon after his birth, Richard's father entered the Korean war and his mother moved to the York and Red Lion area to be near family.

After graduating from Central High School in 1967, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving our country until 1974. The next year, Richard completed his boilermaker's apprenticeship in Colorado Springs working for the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers throughout the U.S. and Canada for over 40 years. Richard spent 10 years as a Business Agent for the Boilermakers Local 13 of Philadelphia, and he also served as a trustee to the Central PA Building and Trades.

Upon his retirement in 2008, Richard and Elizabeth moved to Port Charlotte, FL. In 2009 Richard needed a liver transplant and was blessed with one in 2010. Complications followed and in 2012 he was fortunate to receive a second liver transplant. When he was not in a hospital or at doctor appointments, Richard and Elizabeth were able to travel across the States, spending time each year in Colorado with family and friends, and other ports around the world.

Richard also enjoyed boating, fishing, audible spy and adventure novels, grandchildren and chocolate milk.

Mr. Crouse was a member of the El Paso Masonic Lodge 13 for 34 years. The American Legion Pleasureville Post 799 for 31 years and Loyal order of the Moose for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Crouse of Port Charlotte, daughters and son-in laws Jennifer and Tim Klimchock, Jessica and Brian Anderson, and sons and daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Tammy Billet, and Joshua Billet all of York, PA and seven grandchildren.
