Wayne Spangler Obituary
Dover - Wayne Eugene Spangler, Sr., 92, of Dover, died Thursday, December 10, 2020 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Florence Irene (Heindel) Spangler for 65 years, who died December 23, 2014. Born August 14, 1928 in Dover, he was a 1946 Dover High School graduate.
Surviving are his children, Wayne Spangler, Jr. and Laurie, of Alexandria, Virginia, Ed Spangler and Glenda, of Chicago, Illinios, and Kevin Spangler and Sharon, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; his two grandchildren, Gregory Spangler and Julianna Spangler; his sisters, Leona Rudy and Hilda Harris; and brother, Paul Drawbaugh.
Wayne was a long-time member of the White Rose Polka Club, Traveler's Protection Agency (TPA), and the York County Republican Club. He proudly served all these organizations.
Wayne dedicated his life to his family and to making his community where he grew up a better place to live. Come rain or shine, he tirelessly worked the polls at each election. On every Labor Day, he could be found handing out coffee and donuts to travelers at the Welcome Center on I-83.
Due to COVID-19, a graveside service for immediate family only is scheduled for Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Prospect Hill Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Kuhner Associates Funeral Directors, Inc., 863 South George Street, York, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wayne's name may be sent to York County Food Bank, 254 West Princess St., York, PA 17401 or Feeding America at https://www.feedingamerica.org.

Nancy Blake and I remember Wayne with fondness from our Republican Committee Days. Nancy and Wayne were at many of the State Committee Meetings. He was a gentleman and well respected. He did so much for his community. Our deepest sympathy.
