Barbara Jean Gonnerman

Barbara Jean Gonnerman, age, 72 of Waco, Neb., passed on Friday, September 26, 2025, in the comfort of her home.
She was born on July 31, 1953, to Tony and Norma Jean (Schroeder) Meints in Beatrice, Neb. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church of Beatrice, Neb. On April 2, 2005, she was united in marriage to Scott Gonnerman at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Gresham, Neb.
Barb dedicated her career to her passion of serving others for over 25 years between BSDC and Region V Services.
Barb was a long-time member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She enjoyed gardening, playing games, and wintering in Arizona. Her fondest memories included summers at the lake with family and friends, as well as Bunko game nights. Many of her favorite parts of everyday farm life were her "girls," or chickens, her friendly neighborhood turkey Joy, and all the wildlife that the changing seasons brought.
She is survived by her husband, Scott of Waco, Neb.; son, Josh (Kim) Haberman of York, Neb.; stepson, Jason Gonnerman (Michelle Steiger) of York, Neb.; grandchildren, Vanessa (Lucas) Barr of Lincoln, Neb., Jaden (Michaela) Gonnerman of Hastings, Neb., and Dylan Gonnerman of York, Neb., Matthew Ackerman of Peoria, Ill., Nick (Tori) Ackerman of Balsam Lake, WI., and Alex Ackerman of Geneva, NE.; and great-grandchild, Thomas Ackerman of Balsam Lake, WI. She is also survived by her sister, Carlene (Orville) Stuhr of Waco, NE. and brother, Roger Meints.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Larry, and son, Jon Graves.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Gresham. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation was held at Metz Mortuary on Monday from 1 to 8 pm, with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Memorials will be used to establish a youth scholarship fund through the Nebraska Chapter of the P.E.O.
