Carolyn "Rosie" Kopcho, age 87 of York, Neb. died on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in Omaha, Neb. She was born on August 22, 1937 to Thomas and Helen (Frank) O'Brien in Friend, Neb. Rosie was united in marriage to Leland Kopcho on May 15, 1961 in Aurora, Neb.
Rosie was the retired matriarch of Kopchos Sanitation Inc. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York. She enjoyed socializing with her Friday and Saturday Night Ladies and was a member of the Red Hats. Rosie loved to cook and enjoyed her cats. Most of all, she loved and cherished her family.
She is survived by her sons: Paul (Denise) Kopcho, Rod (Vicky) Kopcho, and Tom (Amie) Kopcho, all of York; her grandchildren: Kelsey (Jeff) Pieper, Kinsley (Jeff) McKinney, Ethan (Taylor) Kopcho, Keith (Carlie) Kopcho, Allison Kopcho and her fiancé Joe Harwick, and Jacob Kopcho, all of York; great-grandchildren: Odelia, Oliver, and Arlo Pieper, Leyen and Brixtyn McKinney, and Chloe Kopcho, all of York; and her sister, Judi Samson of Coppell, Texas, and nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lee; and brother-in-law, Tom Samson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York with the Reverend Father John Sullivan and the Reverend Father Ken Borowiak officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in York. Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., on Monday, with a rosary service at 6 p.m. that same evening at the Metz Chapel. Her family will greet friends following the rosary. In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be directed to Greenwood Cemetery or St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Condolences nay be left for the family at metzmortuary.com. Metz Mortuary in York is handling arrangements.
