Dorothy Fisbeck Obituary

Dorothy Ruth (Gutzmer) Fisbeck, 92, was born on November 29, 1931, and passed away on December 18, 2023 in York. She was born in Western to Harvey H. and Meta (Matzke) Gutzmer. She graduated in 1949 from Western High School. Dorothy married Eugene Fisbeck on July 17, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Fairbury. Dorothy and Gene moved to Colorado for short time and then returned to Nebraska, residing in York. They then moved to Fairbury and managed the Capri Motel. After Gene's death, Dorothy returned to York.

For many years Dorothy worked at Chances R and most recently at Lichti's TV in York.

She is survived by daughter, Carolyn Koch of York and son, Tim Fisbeck of Fairbury; grandson, Paul Koch and granddaughter, Sarah Koch both of York; great-grandson, Tyler Effle of Omaha and Austen Fisbeck of Fairbury and great-granddaughter, LaNae Morales; sister, Karen Scheele of Fairbury; brother, Harvey (Judy) of Fairbury; brother, Rodger (Betty) of Wichita and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene; son-in-law, Stan Koch; sister and brother-in-law, Leola and Dave Rickey; brother-in-law, Floyd Scheele and granddaughter Gidget Fisbeck.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Metz Chapel in York. Private family burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, York. Visitation will be from 1 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the mortuary. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Condolences may be left for the family at metzmortuary.com. Metz Mortuary in York is handling arrangements.
