Evelyn L. Brush

Evelyn L. Brush, age 104 of York, died on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Hearthstone Nursing Home in York.
She was born April 3, 1921, to Charles M and Lena (Vergin) Williams in Litchfield, NE. She grew up in rural Custer County and graduated from Sargent High School.
Evelyn continued her education at Central City business college for one year. She worked as a secretary in Loup City, Nebraska. In 1942 she traveled to Olympia, Washington where she married Bernard Brush. They returned to Nebraska following the war where they raised their four children.
Evelyn was a long time member of First Christian Church in Broken Bow, serving as treasurer of the women's group, Sunday School teacher, and the quilting group. She was a homemaker, gifted seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and embroidery. Evelyn was an excellent cook.
She is survived by her daughters Diane Lowry of Big Bear, CA, Nancy (Gary) Hall of York, NE and Carla (Jim) Rodriguez of Minden, NE, daughter-in-law Ruth Brush of Denton, TX. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Garrick (Bonnie) Lowry of San Antonio, TX, Kristen Lowry of Big Bear, CA, Jeff (Sarah) Hall of Omaha, NE, Jenna (Ron) Dubas of Waverly, NE, Lisa (JD) Race of North Platte, NE, and Laura (Kevin) Rhinehart of Lincon, NE, Erin (Kyle) Duncan of Ft. Saskatchewan, Canada, Tyler (Kate) Brush of Little Elm, TX, and Zachary (Joy) Brush of Albuquerque, NM, and 15 great-grandchildren. Evelyn is also survived by her sister-in-law Bonita Williams of Bassett, NE, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Bernard, her son Kevin Lee, and her son-in-law Eric Lowry.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Charles Williams, Jr., Arlene Kalkowski, Seth Williams, and Winona Brummel.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Metz Chapel in York. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m., the same day, at Broken Bow Township Cemetery in Broken Bow, NE. Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m., on Wednesday at Metz Mortuary. Memorials are suggested to
