Helen Dallas
November 25, 1934 - October 24, 2025
Helen Dallas, age 90, of McCool Junction, Neb., died Friday, October 24, 2025, in Henderson, Neb. She was born on November 25, 1934, in Sivatz Yugoslavia to Johann and Katharina (Art) Steinmetz. She immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island, N.Y., with her parents and three siblings in 1951 following World War II. With the help of Church World Services, she and her family were relocated to Henderson, Neb.
When she first moved to Nebraska, she didn't speak English but was determined and learned. She worked at the York Country Club, and American Legion Club, before purchasing the Blue Valley Inn in the late 1970's.
Helen made many life-long friends during the years. She always had a kind word and was known for her smile, generosity, and willingness to help others. She took great pleasure in seeing the children of her customers grow up and then later become parents themselves.
She loved all children, but most of all she loved her family. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do to make sure they were happy and taken care of. She will be missed by so many people. The world was a better place with her in it.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Schneider (Steve Whitlock) of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, and Nancy Brisk (Tim) of Henderson, Neb., stepson, Quinten Dallas (Denise) and stepdaughter, Corinne Martin (Mike) and their children, Max and Michele of Lincoln, Neb.; sister, Irma Kuhrts of McMinnville, Ore.; brothers, Johann Steinmetz and Fred Steinmetz of York; granddaughter, Michele Blum (Charles Wertz) of Walton, Neb.; her niece, Susan Rodenbur; and nephews, Greg and Scott Steinmetz.
She was preceded in death by her son, Blaine Schneider; stepson, Phil Dallas; her parents, Johann and Katharina "Katie" Steinmetz; sister, Irene Weiss of Vienna, Austria; baby sister, Katherine Steinmetz; and her friend, Boyd Cool of Fairmont, Neb.
Helen was cremated in accordance with her wishes, and her remains will be inurned privately. There is no viewing or visitation, and there will be no funeral services. Instead, a private celebration of life will be held. Memorials may be directed to York Adopt-A-Pet. Condolences may be left for the family at
