Helen Joan Schluckebier, 90, passed away on December 20, 2025. She was born on July 8, 1935, in Beaver Crossing, NE, to Melvin and Nina (Rediger) Burkey.
Helen was a very strong, loving, and incredible woman. She managed Chances R restaurant for several years and was the owner and operator of Wright Jewelry in York, NE. One of her favorite hobbies was playing cards, especially bridge. Helen was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son David (Pam) Wright; daughters Deanne (Tom) Damkroger and Denise (Pete) Crane; grandchildren Emily, Audrey, Breann, Michelle, Ashley, Jonathan, Stefanie, Sarah, Steven, and Daniel; along with 27 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph Schluckebier; brothers Lee, Walter, and Doyle Burkey; and sister Grace Milton.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr., Lincoln, NE 68516). A viewing will take place one-hour prior beginning at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Mound Prairie Cemetery in Goehner, NE.
Memorials are designated to the Goehner Cemetery Association or St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
