Joey W. Jensen

Joey W. Jensen, age 93, of York NE passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, after a brief illness at Seward General Hospital.
Joey was born on January 11, 1932, in Cordova, NE to August W. and Mary O. Jensen, to which he was one of sixteen children. Joey was a loving husband to his wife Luverne for 63 years and devoted father of Cathryn West (Thomas) of Waukee IA, Wayne Jensen (Sheila) of Bennington NE, and Douglas Jensen of Wahoo NE.
Joey graduated from York High School in 1950 and then enlisted in the service after graduation. He was a veteran of the Korean War and proudly did his service for four years with the USAF stationed in Albuquerque, NM and Sioux City, IA as an airplane mechanic. He spent his career as a manager and owner of Jensen Propane where he was known for the compassion he had for his customers. After selling the business he worked for fifteen years at Sundstrand (Collins Aerospace) in the heat treat department. Outside of work, he was passionate about fishing and loved spending time with his family. Joey was a member of the York Lions Club for fifty plus years helping and leading many projects within the community. His kindness, integrity, and gift of gab will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Luverne, his parents, brothers, Robert, Allen, Gale, James, and August and his sisters, Lorraine, Betty, Marilyn, Marjorie, Mary Ann, Carol, Deanna, and Edith. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, Griffin West (Laura) of Champlin, MN, Madison Mayer (Matthew) of Fitchburg, WI, Skyler Rodriguez (David) of Omaha, NE, and Parker Jensen of Omaha, NE; and four great-grandchildren, Redmond West, Maeve West, Seely Rodriguez, and Emmarie Rodriguez. Brothers Donald Jensen of Norman, OK and Gary of Salina, KS.
A Celebration of life with inurnment will be held a later date. Joey has been cremated. There is no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York NE or the York Lion's Club in Joey's memory. Condolences may be left for the family at
