Perry Rosenau Obituary

Perry Rosenau

May 24, 1961 - December 31, 2024

Dr. Perry John Rosenau, age 63 of York, Neb., passed away on December 31, 2024 at his home in Lincoln surrounded by his family after a recent diagnosis of leukemia.

Perry was born on May 24, 1961 to Dr. Harold and Virginia (McPeck) Rosenau in Terre Haute, Ind. The family moved back to York shortly after his birth. He graduated from York High School with the class of 1979 and went on to receive his bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1984. He then earned his D.D.S. from the UNMC College of Dentistry in 1988 and completed a general practice residency at Emory University in 1989. Perry married his college sweetheart, Jane Marie Crist, on April 28, 1990 and they were blessed with two daughters – Alexa in 1993 and Aleah in 1995.

Perry returned to York in 1989 to start practicing and served York and the surrounding area for the next 35 years. He greatly valued making personal connections with his countless patients and staff members and will be remembered by many as a kind and gentle dentist. He was a member of the American Dental Association, a delegate and trustee of the Nebraska Dental Association, and was the past officer of the Southeast District Dental Society. He was also a long-time member and past officer of the Rotary Club of York and past President and board member of the United Way of York.

Perry loved supporting his girls in all of their athletic and fine arts endeavors, spending quality time with his family and friends, all kind of woodworking projects, traveling to the Caribbean, photography, going on evening boat rides around the lake, a medium-rare steak, and a refreshing mojito.

Perry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jane Rosenau of York; his two daughters, Dr. Alexa (Wyatt Suddarth) Rosenau of Lincoln and Aleah Rosenau of Charlotte, N.C.; and his siblings, Pat (Barry) Falter of Lincoln, Pam (Roger) Fleury of Omaha, and Paul Rosenau of York.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Harold and Virginia Rosenau.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with Pastor Mike Neidow officiating. I was a teacher and coach in York from 1976-1978. I knew Pam, Pat, and Perry, who I was lucky enough to coach. He was, as the saying goes, as nice as the day is long. He almost always wore a smile, except when he thought he didn't do as well as he could have. I am sorry for the loss to his wife and children, and the loss to his birth family. My prayers are with all who knew, loved, and respected Perry. As with his sisters, I felt we had crossed over from just teacher/coach to student and were friends. I pray there is peace for all.

My heartfelt sympathy to Perry´s family, friends and patients! Having worked at the UNMC College of Dentistry while Perry was attending I knew he would become a caring exceptional dentist. I´m saddened to learn of his passing and pray for comfort and peace in the days ahead!
