RALEIGH, N.C. — Patricia Ellen "Patty" Braddock Newton, 70, of Raleigh, went to be with her Lord on Oct. 16, 2017.
Mrs. Newton was born Feb. 28, 1947 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late John Randolph and Bernice Ellen Robinson Braddock. She was a graduate of Hamlet High School, Class of 1967, graduated from cosmetology school in 1968, and had taken classes at Richmond Technical Institute. She had been a hairstylist with JC Penny Hair Salon for 10 years, a homemaker and since 1975, a pastor's wife. Patty will be remembered as an extraordinarily loving mother and grandmother, as well as a rockin' bass player and culinary queen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robbie Braddock.
Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Pastor Johnny Mack Newton; daughters, Alpha Carrie Newton Kelly (Darren) and Joannie Ellen Newton Pike; grandchildren, Brittany Kelly, Jonathan Kelly, Jefferson Pike, Tristan Pike, Johnny Pike, Molly Pike and Heather Pike; brothers, Jimmy Braddock, David Braddock and Donnie Braddock and sister, Sharon Jimenez.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church, 145 Yates St., Rockingham with Pastor Johnny Newton, Pastor Edwin Norris and Bishop Danny Nelson officiating. Interment will follow in Richmond County Memorial Park.
The family will see friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham and at other times at the Pike home.

When I think of Patti, I am reminded of her love and devotion to the Lord, her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. A good woman gone. With deep sympathy and prayers for her beautiful family.
