ALFREDO SAMANIEGO Obituary

ALFREDO SAMANIEGO GLEN ROSE - Alfredo Cantu Samaniego, affectionately known as Al, Freddy, or simply Dad and Grandpa, passed from this life on Saturday May 18, 2024, in Glen Rose, TX surrounded by family. A rosary to honor Alfredo was held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in Live Oak Chapel at Greenwood, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. A service to celebrate his life was held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 6150 Pershing Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Following services, Alfredo was laid to rest at Greenwood Memorial Park. Born on December 24, 1937, to Juan and Hortencia Samaniego in Cuidad anayo Nuevo Leon, Mexico, they came to the states in his early childhood where he gained his status as a United States citizen. Alfredo was a graduate of Trimble Tech High School, class of 1958, and went on to attend Arlington State College (now University of Texas Arlington), before pursuing a lifelong career in the commercial printing industry that spanned over five decades. Early in his career he spent several years working for Cockrell Printing in Fort Worth, before transitioning to the Printing Center in Fort Worth, and finally ending his career working for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. In 1959, Alfredo married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Garcia. Together, they raised four children: Alicia, Diana, Jesse, and Bobby. Alfredo's hobbies and interests were as rich and varied as his personality. He was an avid huntsman, loved the country life, could rebuild almost any car, and was one of the best gardeners you could ever meet. In his later years he found a passion for raising cattle on their family property in Glen Rose. His children and grandchildren who were some of his greatest joys in life, fondly recall their time together on the ranch whether they were learning how to hunt, fix "everything" with nothing, run cows, or build cars. Alfredo was preceded in death by both his parents and his sister, Margarita. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his children, Alicia (Tim), Diana, Jesse (Brittany), and Bobby (Christine); his eight grandchildren, Patrick (Jessica), Andrea (Daniel), Jordan (Dan), Dee, Franchesca, Kristian (Sarah), Evelynn, and Eliza; his four great grandchildren, Callum, Hudson, Iris, and Scarlett; his brothers, Johnny, Ricky, and Ralph; his sisters, Connie and Tina; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Alfredo will be remembered as a hardworking and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, Tio, and friend to all that knew him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, and all that knew him.
