BETTY GOSDIN
Betty Jean Wardlow Marietta Gosdin went to her heavenly home on December 27, 2024, in Glen Rose, Texas. Betty was born November 28, 1945, in Pasadena, Texas to William Warren Wardlow and Nathalie Audrey Sippy Wardlow. She was raised from an early age by her loving stepfather, Robert George Marietta. Betty married Tommy Lynn Gosdin on September 2, 1966, and they enjoyed 52 years of married life.
Betty attended San Jacinto Jr. College in Pasadena, Texas, Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas. She was an honor graduate of the School of Education and Fine Arts. She completed 16 years of formal education.
Betty's job experience included: Foley's Gift Wrapping, NASA (she worked there during the Gemini and Apollo missions), United States Postal Service, Teacher, Genealogist/Librarian of the Genealogy and Heritage Center in Glen Rose, Texas. Betty was editor of several genealogical and history books, a Library volunteer and a volunteer for many Somervell County organizations.
Betty was a member of: Rainbow Girls, Order of the Eastern Star, Treasurer of the White Church Cemetery, Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT), Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Mayflower Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy and Colonial Dames. Betty was also a descendant of Charlemagne.
She had numerous hobbies which included cake decorating, scrapbooking, being a housewife and she was involved in genealogy since 1979.
Betty is survived by her children: Bradly Eric (Ann) Gosdin, Brian Craig (Mandy) Gosdin; Grandchildren: Mary Gosdin, Garrett (Kasey) Gosdin, Emily (Chris) Boyd, Gabe Gosdin, Brenna Bulat; Great-Grandchildren: Lane Gosdin, Gwen Gosdin, Eva Boyd, Paxton Ibarra.
A visitation for friends and family will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 12:00 Noon - 1:30 PM, at the Wiley Funeral Home Stateroom in Glen Rose, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM at the White Church Cemetery in Glen Rose, Texas. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the First Methodist Church in Glen Rose, Texas starting at 3:00 PM.
