KENT WISE Obituary

KENT WISE Kent Wise, 58, passed away June 23, 2023, in Burleson, Texas. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 11am at Paluxy Baptist Church located at 9530 Paluxy Circle, Bluff Dale, Texas 76433. Kent was born August 22, 1964, to Maurice Lee Wise and Jane Elizabeth Gates. Kent was Valedictorian and student athlete at Glen Rose High School, Dean's list and Magna Cum Laude at Baker University, Honor's, and Dean's list at Pacific University of Optometry. He was also All State Center Field at Glen Rose High School. Kent was an avid golfer, a hobby he shared with his kids. On top of that he had a strong love of football and baseball which he played at a collegiate level. He always felt at home in the Rockies of Colorado whether that were hiking, camping, off roading or skiing. As his kids grew up Kent took pride and enjoyment in being heavily involved in their sports and other endeavors. He was also a lifelong enjoyer of rock music which he always shared with his kids. Kent rose up in the optometric world and owned 3 practices which he cared for thousands of recurrent patients through, each of which he made feel like a lifelong friend. Above all else he was the kindest and most loving father imaginable to his boys. He was their best friend, role model, biggest fan, shoulder to cry on and so much more. He would never miss one of their games, he was most proud of watching his oldest son, Brady, carry his high school football team to the playoffs for which he received offensive MVP honors and watching his younger son, Jake, receive his Formula Drift Pro license in the world of competitive drifting. Kent lived for the golfing days with his boys whether it was the local Squaw Valley Golf Course or some crazy golf course set in a beautiful landscape. Kent sure did love traveling. Aside from being out and active in the world he loved welcoming people into his home to watch an Oklahoma Sooner or Pittsburgh Steeler's game or pulling weeds and taking his dogs for a walk, he had a knack for being a dog's favorite person just like he was for so many people. He had a goofy side that could make the worst day bright and a charming side you could never forget. Kent Wise was a wonderful one-of-a kind man, a friend to countless, a father to more than just his sons, and an overall extraordinary man who lived an extraordinary life. Kent is survived by his sons: Brady Daniel Wise and daughter-in-law Caitlyn A. Lombardo; son, Jake Stephen Wise; mother: Jane Houdek; father: Maurice Wise and stepmother Ruth Wise; sister: Kristi Bise and brother-in-law Jeff Bise; brother: Kirk Wise and sister-in-law Kelly Wise; stepsisters: Jodi DeLeon and Lora Ray and families; niece: Lauren Wise Kent was a member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association Kent's Wishes: Kent was no ordinary man, so the family wishes for this day to be a celebration of that. That being said, they request for all attending to wear colors other than black, Kent loved his neon. If you wish to forego flowers, it is asked that you put that money into a donation to Paluxy Baptist Church as Kent was invested into renovating the church. The family wants to do this in his honor.
