Barbara Sue Gomez

1963 - 2009

Barbara Sue Gomez Jimenez was born on January 26, 1963 in Twenty-Nine Palms, California. She entered to eternal rest on January 21, 2009 in Yuma, Arizona.

Barbara graduated from Kofa High School in 1981 and was employed as a receptionist for various Yuma companies over the years; Melody Cleaners, KSWT TV and Fisher Chrysler to name a few.

Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by sons, Jesse Rico Garza and Steven Ray Jimenez, of Yuma; grandson, Zakkary, who resides in Oklahoma. Parents, Robert and Martha Sue Gomez of Yuma; brothers, Robert (Anna) Gomez of Yuma; Joe (Liz) Gomez of Yuma and Edward (Fiancee Kim Gassner) Gomez, of Bend, Oregon; Nieces and nephews, Tony (Erica) Rico; Diana (Martin) Balderas; Bobby Gomez; Joey, Michael, Cassie Gomez, all of Yuma, five great-nieces and nephews, Willie and Micaela Rico, Mark, Michael and Sophia Balderas of Yuma.

Barbara's proudest accomplishment was as a mother of her multi-talented musician sons and in their band called Demise of Hollywood. She could be seen at most all their concerts as the #1 fan, of not only her boys, but all the band members. She was affectionately known as the Queen of all Rock Moms' by the Battle of the Bands community. There was never a time when she was not spreading her infectious good cheer, laughter and ever present smile. She was daddy's little girl. She could never do wrong in his eyes. She was not just her mother's daughter, she was her best friend. Her mother cherished the time they spent working and living together. Not a day goes by that her brothers do not think about their little 'Boo-Boo'.

Barbara was kind to everyone and was quick to lend a hand to anyone at any time, never having to be asked. She had many talents that she shared with everyone: arts and crafts, cross stitch, cooking, baking and jewelry making. She made the best potato salad this side of the Rio Grande (a nod to her Texas roots!) Barbara loved to keep in touch with childhood friends. She was everybody's best friend but her two "Angel Friends", Pam and Yvonne stuck by her through thick and thin, because "that's what friends are for".

A memorial mass is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 9 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 505 S. Avenue B with Father Richard officiating. We will all miss you Barbara. God Bless you little sister.
