Grace Douglas Obituary
She is survived by her five children, Nancy Menzia (Vancouver), Kathleen Topp (Portland), John Topp (Scappoose), Laura Topp (Scappoose), Pauly Dexter (Beaverton), eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two nephews, Joey and Ken Devine. Grace recently was blessed by two great-granddaughters, Savannah and Kimberly, whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Ken and her husbands, Wesley Topp and Erv Douglas.
Grace graduated from Pillager High School in Minnesota, attended a secretarial school and enlisted in the Navy. She served in Seattle, Washington for a year and four months. After Wes Topp was discharged from the Army in 1945 they were married. Grace and Wes moved to Oregon in 1947, and raised their five children in Portland, Oregon. Wes died in 1971. Grace married Erv Douglas in 1989. Erv had six children and several grandchildren. Erv died in 1999. Grace retired from US Bank in 1984. Her true work was her service to the community and military veterans as a member of WAVES, American Legion, Masons, Elks, Kiwanis, Lions, Eagles, Moose, Eastern Star, Foresters and PTA. She enjoyed traveling and resided between Klipsan Beach, Washington and Yuma, Arizona. Grace died from colon cancer.
Memorial contributions may be made to WAVES National, Columbia River Ripples, Pioneer United Methodist Church in Portland or the organization of your choice. Burial rites and military honors will be conducted at a future date at Willamette National Cemetery. Thank you mom for all you have done. You have had a remarkable life. We love you!

What a wonderful lady we have lost!! We got to enjoy Grace while we were in Yuma and were also neighbors on the Sauvie Island farm in Oregon. She enjoyed each and every day to the fullest and didn't let life pass her by. Our deepest sympathy to all.

Grace has been a wonderful influence in my life since the age of five. Her quick wit, big heart and spiritual devotion was sharred with everyone. Grace made you feel good just being with her. I will truely miss her. My sympathy to all of her family.

Grace's daughter, Nancy, and I have been friends since the first grade. Grace has been a part of my life for 55 years and she and I have always enjoyed one anothers company. I was always treated like one of her own kids. I will miss seeing her when I visit Portland and I will miss her sense of humor.
