Harold was born August 10, 1934, in Brawley, CA, to parents Melvin and Bernie Sheldon. He departed this life June 8, 2022, at Haven Health in Yuma.
Harold grew up in Imperial, CA and attended school there and attended San Diego State College for two years..
Harold was drafted into the US Army serving for two years and received training in the tank corps at Ft. Lewis in Tacoma, WA.
Harold worked for the Imperial Irrigation District beginning as a grounds keeper. He figured out how to fix just about every problem, he was quite the handyman. He had been employed in the Imperial Irrigation District for 42 years. Harold retired as the Superintendent of the Imperial Dam in 1996. He and his wife Ann lived in the Dam Housing Area. They then moved into town in Yuma.
Harold is survived by his wife Ann, of 67 years, his son, Bruce Sheldon (Jeni) of Reno, Nevada, and three grandsons, Andrew, Matthew, and Josh.
Harold and Ann conducted Bible Studies, kids' Sunday School, and Good News Club in their home at the Dam.
Upon moving to town, Harold and Ann were active at Morningside Baptist Church where they continued in children's ministries, including AWANA, and Children's Church.
Harold enjoyed boating, fishing, and desert off-roading. Friend's and family will remember how they would leave with a smile on their face, most of the time he had everyone laughing.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Morningside Baptist Church, 2900 S 8th Ave. Pastor Don Vickers will be officiating.
Internment of remains will be in the Sheldon family plot in Ramona, CA.
