December 3, 1938 - September 2, 2021

Joan Maye Stanhope passed away on September 2nd, 2021, at age 82. She was born December 3rd, 1938, in Staples, Minnesota to Sidney and Maye Johnson.

Joan, as she was known to all, was a wonderful woman, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who was well loved and admired by everyone. Joan was said by many to be the sweetest person in the world and brightened everyone's day with her presence.

She grew up in Sunnyvale, California and eventually settled in Yuma, Arizona with her husband and three boys. She was a stay-at-home mom for several years and ultimately became the Purchasing Agent for Data IV Office Products where she worked until retirement. Her biggest love in life was her animals. She opened her heart and her home to all of them she came across. She always wanted to buy a big piece of land with a house on it where she could have saved and loved all the animals in the world. Joan will be deeply missed by all.

Joan is survived by her sons Scott Stanhope & Kevin (Lea) Stanhope, brother Bob (Sharon) Johnson, grandchildren Brian Stanhope, Eric Stanhope, Kailey Jo Stanhope, Heather Stanhope, Finley Stanhope, great grandchildren Brielle, Bella and Braxton and a huge circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, October 16th, 2021, at Sunrise Mobile Estates Clubhouse, 1950 E 24th St, Yuma, AZ 85365. All friends & public are welcome.

Rest in peace Mom, we love you very much!

Scott, Kevin and families, I'm so sorry to learn of your mom's passing. I remember the very beginning days of Data IV. Your mom was a kind lady.
