Robert Lagunas Obituary

Robert Lagunas

September 12, 1958 - February 5, 2025

On February 5th, 2025, Robert Lagunas passed away with his family surrounding him with love

and comfort.

Robert was a loving, compassionate, generous, kind and warmhearted man that was cherished by many. He loved to talk and could make friends anywhere he went. He was the most selfless man and would help anybody that was in need. He organized many benefit tournaments and fund raisers for family and friends. Anytime you called on Robert for help you

could count on him and he would never make you feel like it was a bother. Robert was well known for his big smile with dimples and his ponytail that was recognizable out on the softball field. Robert was a talented athlete throughout his entire life. He started as the marble champion in grade school and later became the home run king.

Robert started working in construction at the young age of sixteen. He was a very hard worker and knew how to operate numerous machines. He worked as a construction foreman with Zeller's for many years and finished his career as a superintendent for MRM Construction Services out of Phoenix. In addition to his construction career, he is also well known for running

security at local clubs and bars. His tremendous patience and easygoing attitude made him a great fit for this work. If you spent any time at Vibes, Crazy Earls or Mineshaft then you know Robert.

Family was the centerpiece of Robert's life. Easter Sunday at the park, Thanksgiving Eve pitting turkeys and family trips were some of his favorite times. He had a best friend for life with his son, James. His girls were the light of his life and he would protect them at all costs. He welcomed Albert and Alex as his sons and took them under his wing. His many nieces and nephews all looked up to him and knew that he was there for them no matter what. His greatest joy and devotion to his grandsons was unmatched! The boys adored their Tata and he adored them! His wife, Anna, was his true love and partner. Together they made a beautiful family that will forever be changed by the loss of Robert.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Anna Lagunas; daughters, Jana Lagunas, Roberta Ruiz and

Stacy Lagunas; daughter-in-law, Leeanne Lagunas; sons-in-law, Albert Ruiz and Alex Ruvalcaba;

brother and sisters, Ray "Mony" Lagunas, Lupe "Nena" Salas, Josie "Pina" Glick, Mary "Chica" Franco, and Rita Lagunas. He leaves behind his granddaughter, Ayanna Lagunas and three grandsons, Braxton and Jaxon Lagunas and Dylan Mays that absolutely adore their Tata. He leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will greatly

miss him.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Frances Lagunas; brother, Larry Lagunas and his beloved son, James Lagunas.

My sincere condolences to the Lagunas Family . I met Robert many years ago before knowing him as a great softball player and coach. He was always a kind person and treated me with respect as I did him. I mostly played on opposing teams but I did have the privilege of playing on the same team with him once or twice. He was a great competitor. He did always have a big smile when he greeted anyone. He will be missed. Rest in peace Robert.

Robert Lagunas was a man for which I had the utmost respect. I remember his presence at the Yuma city softball tournaments, the Club Latino tournaments, out-of-town World Hispanic Tournaments, the local benefits, special events, and at the Mineshaft. In our co-ed softball days, he was always on the opposing team, but we shared many a smiles, competition cheers, and short conversations. My children grew up around the softball family, and Robert was definitely one who made an great impact on all of us. He will surely be missed. May God receive him with open arms, and may God wrap His loving, comforting arms around all his family. RIP, my friend.
