Robert Leamons Obituary

Robert Wayne Leamons

September 21, 1952 - May 20, 2021

Robert Wayne Leamons earned his wings after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson 's Disease on May 20, 2021. He passed away peacefully in his home in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Robert was born the 8th of 12 children to Bobby and Irene Leamons on September 21, 1952 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He moved with his family to Winterhaven, California in 1958. He graduated from San Pasqual High School in 1971. In high school Robert was quite an athlete. He represented the San Pasqual Warriors in varsity football, baseball, and bowling. Robert worked his whole life in construction and ran his own business as a concrete finisher. Robert was very social and kept close contact with many friends over the years. He enjoyed family potlucks, parties, and family sports including horseshoes, bowling, pool, backgammon, checkers, or any interactive activity with a little competition. He enjoyed singing and going on long drives. He was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers. Above all, Robert loved his family. He loved being a member of the huge Leamons clan. Even with failing health, Robert supported his grandchildren in their activities and milestones: soccer games, graduations, football games, annual Halloween parties and would try to attend as often as he could.

Robert is preceded in death by his father Bobby Leamons, mother Irene Leamons, and his siblings Harold Leamons, Geneva Stalnaker, Judy Echols, and Diane Stalnaker.

He is survived by his wife Ellen Schoepp-Leamons; his children Sandy (Tom) Rush and Randy (Emily) Leamons; his grandchildren Jackson Rush, Stockton Rush, RJ Leamons, Savannah Rush, Ariana Leamons, Jacob Leamons, Houston Rush, Aneesa Leamons, and Luciana Leamons; his brothers Ray (Dana) Leamons, Gary (Brenda) Leamons, Larry Leamons; his sisters Marie Erwin, Shirley Collins, Juanita Hazlett, Linda (Steve) Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered by his children as the dad that was always seeking fun. His children hold on to fond memories of days at the river, fishing, and visiting with the Leamons at family functions. He beamed with pride over his children, grandchildren and each of their accomplishments.

A Celebration of Life will be held the first weekend of November during the Leamons Family Reunion. Please email [email protected] to receive detailed event information.

Jerry and I had a blast with Robert and Ellen when we went to Vegas to see them. Robert had two electric chairs that Jerry and he took up to the exercise area by their house. They had fun and raced each other I’ve been down the street there.
When Robert and Ellen came to see Jerry and I in Yuma, do you have the fun of their life at the convention center with him racing up and down the convention center parking lot. I never laughed so hard. Robert was always positive and make people laugh and fun to be around. I love to listen to his sing songs. But I want to told him that Robert you need to take a trip and listen to a new song Over and over until you get the words down, and sing it to me.
Although I guess that’s the way daddy wants to, he had his favorites.
Love you Robert, my awesome brother, I miss you so much

Dear Ellen,Sandy,Randy and family;

We are so saddened by Robert’s passing. We had some fun times when we were able to get together. He was so determined to live life despite the obstacles. He loved his family and that is a wonderful legacy to leave. May he rest in our Lord’s loving arms. May you have peace and comfort during this difficult time. He will be missed by us all.
