Walter Crenshaw Obituary

Walter J. Crenshaw, loving husband and beloved father, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011, in Arizona. He was born to Walter and Atha Crenshaw on January 26, 1927 in Oak Grove, Oregon, and is survived by his wife of 42 years, Georgia Crenshaw, and his children Cynthia Warren, Darlene (wife of John) Perez, Timothy Crenshaw, Teri Schilling, Thomas (husband of Ann) Michener, and David Michener. His family also included nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
"Wally," as he was affectionately known, resided in Bremerton, Washington, where he developed a lifelong passion for nature and the outdoors. A true "man's man" by anyone's definition, he was known to regale his many friends and extended family with tales of hunting and fishing adventures.
A pressman at the Kitsap Sun for many years prior to retirement, Walter was also a 32-year member of the Elks and a Life Master Mason.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Marvin and Jack, his son-in-law Michael Schilling, and his grandson Brent Schilling. No services are planned in Arizona; a memorial service will be held in Bremerton, Washington at a date to be announced later.

Wally was both my parent and my friend. I am thankful for the memories of the time I spent with such a fun loving person. I will miss him everyday.

Grandpa was very amused by my self portrait technique.

I will not forget Grandpa. I will miss his stories and his wonderful sense of humor. I feel very fortunate to have been able to listen to the man talk at length. He always had very interesting, and often entertaining things to say. My thoughts and prayers are with Grandma and the other members of the family.
