Carl Hoppe Obituary
SPRINGFIELD: Carl E. Hoppe, 85, passed from this life on Saturday, April 2, in Springfield, Ohio where he had lived since 2000.
Carl was born in Reading, Ohio November 25, 1925 to Carl L. and Oma (Killian). Carl had been a long time resident of Zanesville, graduating from Lash High School in 1943. After serving for 2 years in the US Navy as a radioman during World War II, Carl was married to Rosemarie (Pollock) from 1946 until her death in 1998. Carl retired from Columbia Gas after 33 years of service in 1983. He loved to hunt, fish and garden, and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds.
Carl is survived by his son, Karl (Barbara), of Springfield, Ohio; he was especially proud of his three grandsons and their children, Matthew of Springfield and his daughter, Elizabeth, Michael (Reed), of Dothan, Alabama and their children, Susanna and Samuel, and Seth, US Navy, Millington, Tennessee.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and a daughter, Karin.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by William Thompson and Son Funeral Home in White Cottage with visiting hours on Thursday, April 7 from 10 a.m. until noon, followed immediately with services conducted by Reverend Michael Hoppe. Burial will follow at Memorial Park.

Sorry to hear of Carl"s passing. My Dad(Ward Bichard) always had a great time talking to Carl at church.

I lived across the street from Mr. Hoppe's parents on Seborn Avenue in Zanesville in the early fifties. I was around the age of five and I absolutely loved his mother. Of course she talked lovingly about her son. I remember running across the street to see the elder Carl when he came home from work. This seemed to be a beautiful and loving family! My condolences on the loss of this father, grandfather, and great
